Acai-how I got here

This quest began after listening to an audio book of "The Secret". The last decade has been quite a struggle for me. If you've never heard of ‘survivor's guilt" trust me when I tell you it's truly horrible. 10 years, literally on a treadmill of meds and utter despair.
Work being such a nice place to hide; I had no trouble succeeding professionally. Personally however, my health strode steadily downhill. I gained 40 lbs and was seriously unhealthy. I didn't care.
And then an innocent weekend trip brought me back.
We decided to take a trip to Sequoia Ntl Park. We joined a hike down to some beautiful caves and enjoyed a nice underground tour with about 40 other people. The caves were magnificent. Enter the trip back UP. It was exceptionally humiliating and physically brutal. I couldn't go more than 5-6 minutes before my face turned beet red, the oxygen left my body, every bone, joint and muscle in my body turned to jelly. Little children, then older and older people would stop to ask if I was "alright." while I leaned into the hillside to catch my breath and steady my legs. Imagine, someone 20+ years older than you strolling along without any trouble, right past you. I'd hit my rock bottom in health. It took me 45 minutes to complete the 12 minute walk up the hill. I didn't even try to walk down to the largest sequoia on the planet, General Sherman. I had to wait up top with the elderly and children in strollers. Well, I got with my doctor right away. I dropped as many meds as she'd allow and demanded a plan to get rid of the 6 others. (Once you're on the med treadmill it's very hard to get off.) I changed my diet dramatically, embraced veggies and barley. I started drinking 3 qts of water every day and kept my carbs to the AM. My quest for organic and/or natural health alternatives was in full bloom.
